
This guide provides general information regarding the environmental and structural design criteria used for Peerless-AV’s outdoor products, including its outdoor displays, kiosks, mounts, and accessories.
This guide is intended to supplement, not replace, individual product specifications and materials. Specific criteria vary by product and configuration. Refer to the applicable Peerless-AV product specifications for the environmental and structural design criteria associated with a particular product. The specifications apply only to the particular product and its attachment system and do not constitute an evaluation of the supporting structure or its suitability for a specific installation. Actual performance depends on installation methods, supporting structure, environmental conditions, maintenance, and compliance with other manufacturer instructions.
Corrosion resistance is evaluated using ISO 9223 and ISO 12944 environmental corrosivity categories.

Peerless-AV products are designed for the corrosivity category noted in the applicable product specifications.
Peerless-AV products are not intended for environments exceeding their specified corrosion classification, continuous immersion, or exposure to aggressive chemicals, unless specifically stated otherwise in the applicable product specifications.
Protective finishes should remain intact, drainage paths should remain unobstructed, and products should not be exposed to conditions that promote galvanic corrosion.
Wind resistance is evaluated using ASCE 7-22 design procedures as referenced in the International Building Code (IBC 2024). Individual product specifications may identify maximum allowable wind speed, exposure category, installation height, and other environmental limitations.
Wind speed is based on a 3-second gust as defined in the noted reference standards. Sustained wind speeds will be lower than the calculated 3-second gust speed.
Exposure categories are defined as follows:

Installation height defines the maximum distance from ground level to the top of the installed system.
Wind criteria are intended to address structural integrity of the product and its attachment system under the specified design conditions.
Peerless-AV products are not intended for conditions exceeding their specified wind criteria, including sustained high winds, highly exposed or unobstructed locations beyond the specified exposure classification, installation heights exceeding specified limits, or configurations modified from the engineered product design.
Cosmetic damage, finish degradation, vibration, or deformation may occur during or following severe wind events.
Seismic resistance is based on the International Building Code (IBC) Seismic Design Category (SDC) system.

Peerless-AV products are designed for the seismic category specified in the applicable product specifications.
Changes to attached equipment, weight, center of gravity, accessory configuration, anchorage, or supporting structure may affect seismic performance.
Cosmetic damage, deformation, displacement, or damage to attached equipment may occur during or following a seismic event.
Peerless-AV products should be inspected regularly at intervals appropriate for the installation environment, annually at a minimum, and following any severe environmental event that may affect the installation, including strong winds, seismic activity, flooding, or impact.
Inspections should evaluate structural integrity, protective finishes, corrosion, hardware, anchors, attachment points, supporting structures, and attached equipment, as applicable.
Any damaged or compromised components should be repaired or replaced promptly.
